National Steering Committee

The National Steering Committee has been established by a Decree Law issued by the Council of Ministers and signed by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on 14 July 2015 during the session no. 17/60.

The Decree Law is the result of a long process conducted by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA) in collaboration with the Governorates and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation – Jerusalem Office.

Under the Presidency of the MoWA, the Committee is constituted by: the Office for the Governorates Affairs (acting as Vice-President); the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA); the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers; the Tawasol’s Coordinators; the General Union of Palestinian Women; and the Women’s Affairs Technical Committee (WATC).

The Steering Committee will guide the Tawasol Centres in the implementation of the national development plans. Moreover, it will support the partnership between public institutions and civil society through the two main umbrella organizations, part of the Committee, the General Union of Palestinian Women and the WATC.
